- 1 cup cornmeal (stone-ground)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup butter (melted)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup sugar (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch cast-iron skillet.
In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk together butter, buttermilk, and eggs.
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared skillet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- For a sweeter cornbread, add more sugar or use honey butter as a topping.
- For gluten-free cornbread, use gluten-free flour.
