These pumpkin chocolate chip muffins are moist, flavorful, and loaded with gooey chocolate chips. Perfectly spiced, they’re a must-have treat for fall or any time you crave a comforting, homemade dessert.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 12 muffins 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp cloves

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Mix-ins: (Optional)

  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease the tin.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Set aside.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, brown sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth and well combined.
  4. Mix Batter: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and optional nuts.
  5. Fill Muffin Tin: Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about ¾ full.
  6. Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
  7. Cool: Let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Make It Healthier: Replace half the oil with unsweetened applesauce for a lighter version.
  • Spice Mix: Adjust spices to your liking; add more cinnamon for extra warmth.
  • Storage: Store at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
