Instructions
- Prepare the Peaches: Choose juicy, ripe peaches. Blanch them in boiling water for 30 seconds, then transfer to ice water to peel easily. Slice the peaches evenly. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Mix well and set aside.
- Make the Crumble Topping: In another bowl, mix all-purpose flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the cold unsalted butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. If using, stir in chopped nuts.
- Assemble the Crumble: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the peach mixture evenly in a baking dish. Sprinkle lemon juice over the peaches if desired. Evenly distribute the crumble topping over the peaches, pressing slightly to adhere.
- Bake: Bake for 45-50 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are bubbling. If the topping browns too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil.
