Ingredients
Scale
- 6 tablespoons butter (unsalted)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ½ teaspoons seasoned salt
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
- 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
- 1 cup mixed nuts (optional)
- 1 cup pretzel twists or sticks
- 1 cup bagel chips (broken into smaller pieces)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C).
- Melt Butter and Add Seasonings: Melt the butter in a large roasting pan in the oven. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, and onion powder until combined.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cereals, pretzels, bagel chips, and nuts. Gradually pour the seasoning mixture over the dry ingredients, stirring continuously to ensure an even coating.
- Bake the Chex Mix: Spread the mix evenly in the roasting pan. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to prevent burning and ensure even crisping.
- Cool and Serve: Spread the finished mix on parchment paper or paper towels to cool completely before serving or storing.
Notes
- Substitutions: For a gluten-free version, skip the Wheat Chex and replace bagel chips with gluten-free crackers.
- Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. You can also freeze Chex Mix for up to 3 months.
- Sweet Twist: For a sweet and salty mix, add chocolate candies or caramel-coated popcorn after the mix cools.
