Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter (browned and cooled)
- 1 ¾ cups (350g) brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (170g) chocolate chips (optional)
- ½ cup (60g) chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the Butter: Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the butter turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and browned butter until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract, and whisk until well combined.
- Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula.
- Add Mix-Ins: If desired, gently fold in chocolate chips and nuts for added texture and flavor.
- Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool and Slice: Let the blondies cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before removing and cutting into squares.
Notes
- Ensure the browned butter is cooled to avoid scrambling the eggs.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon for a warm, spiced twist.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
