Brown Butter Blondies: The Ultimate Guide to Chewy Perfection

These brown butter blondies are chewy, rich, and bursting with nutty caramel flavors. Perfectly indulgent and easy to make, they’re an irresistible treat for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 blondies 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter (browned and cooled)
  • 1 ¾ cups (350g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (170g) chocolate chips (optional)
  • ½ cup (60g) chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brown the Butter: Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the butter turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and browned butter until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract, and whisk until well combined.
  3. Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula.
  4. Add Mix-Ins: If desired, gently fold in chocolate chips and nuts for added texture and flavor.
  5. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Cool and Slice: Let the blondies cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before removing and cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Ensure the browned butter is cooled to avoid scrambling the eggs.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon for a warm, spiced twist.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
